You see/hear this all the time. X is a bad idea, but the client wants X. have you considered Y, well I have put this to the client and they still want X. The client gets what the client wants no matter how bad an idea it is.
I personally get no satisfaction when X turns out to be a bad idea and you are left with the "I told you so's"
